About The Academy
The Aerotropolis Academy @ Phoenix will be a unique high school in many respects. It will incorporate traditional high school pathways leading to post-secondary education in 4-year colleges and universities. Phoenix is also a candidate for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme. We are pursuing authorization as an “IB World School” which demands a commitment to a high quality, challenging, international education. The Academy will also offer courses rich in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for those students who choose the pathway leading to a Bachelor’s degree or beyond.
We will also offer technical pathways designed to develop students ready for the workforce upon graduation. The focus of these technical programs will be the fast-growing aviation industry in the Triad region - - training FAA and industry-certified technicians in partnership with GTCC to work for employers such as TIMCO, Honda Aircraft, Atlantic Aero, Landmark Aviation, Cessna Citation, and others.
These technical pathways are being developed in concert with GTCC and those employers to ensure that Aerotropolis students are prepared to succeed in their chosen career fields. By focusing on integrating aviation into the curriculum we will ensure the student gets the foundation needed for either successful follow-on training or direct entrance in to the workforce.
A unique high school should also offer unique opportunities in extracurricular activities; and the Aerotropolis Academy @ Phoenix will. In addition to classroom activities, the Academy will offer sports such as soccer, archery, Equestrian sports, martial arts, sailing, tennis, and golf. There will also be a horticulture program and an aviation club rounding out the unique ways students can compete and express themselves.
These are exciting times at Phoenix Academy - - follow our progress on the web as we continue to expand our offerings.
